JKHA Builds Advanced State-of-the-Art STEM Lab

In the upcoming school year, eighth graders at the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy will participate in an innovative STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program through the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE). The program will be conducted in a brand new, state-of-the-art STEM lab made possible through the generosity of CIJE and the school’s Campaign for Excellence donors. The program, CIJE-Tech Middle School, will provide an initial exposure to engineering and is designed to pique interest and develop skills in STEM, based on the engineering design process.

Students will practice this learning with hands-on, real-world activities that improve their content knowledge. They will participate in experiential learning using innovative thinking and problem-solving strategies while working in collaborative groups.

Over the summer, Emily Bulbulia, the instructor at JKHA for this program participated in intensive training by the CIJE-Tech mentors, and is eager to bring the program back to the students at JKHA. Textbooks, workbooks, equipment and ongoing mentoring for faculty are provided by CIJE.
