Current and prospective early childhood families came together for an interactive event entitled “Fire and Water.” The theme of the program was to focus on Hashem’s role in nature and to explore mitzvot. The morning featured four interactive experiences for students that they rotated in and out of. One of the centers was a science unit where children learned about floating and sinking and learned about surface area. The next station looked at the mitzvah of netilat yadayim—as the children learned about the mitzvah of washing your hands in the morning and made their own washing cups. Another center focused on making chanukah candles and learning about the concepts of melting vs. burning. The last station had students making suncatchers so they could let Hashem’s light into their homes.
