Fifth grade students at JKHA explored the history of music, with emphasis on distinct eras and the sounds they ushered in: Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern. The politics and instrumentation of each era were reflected in each era’s music. Throughout the year, music will continue to come alive for the students with the Composers’ Special Video series. As they discussed famous composers such as Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Rossini, Liszt, Strauss and Bizet, students engaged in a variety of creative activities to solidify and strengthen their knowledge as they enjoyed highlights from the repertoires of each composer. Students can look forward to learning in this exciting unit that engages their ears, their minds and their hearts.
