In honor of Tu B’Shevat the JKHA first and fifth graders joined together to participate in a cross-curricular project-based learning project. First graders explored the importance of trees, in general and in Israel, in their Judaic and general studies classes, and will be producing advertisements to go out to their families. The fifth graders created brochures to complement the ads, and will be focusing on the finances of the project in their math classes. Both grades will be collaborating in order to raise funds to plant trees in Israel through JNF (Jewish National Fund). JKHA was fortunate to have Israel Programs Admissions Director from JNF Rebekah Adelson, come kick off the unit and speak to all the students about the importance of trees in Israel.
