JKHA students were so excited to welcome everyone for Middle School Parent Child Learning and a special Chanukah-focused Moadim L’STEAMcha program. With Judaic studies faculty families learned the significance of the dreidel—why we play it, what message is being given over by playing dreidel, significance of the letters in the dreidel and more. They then linked the dreidel to a science lesson on the scientific exploration of rotation, including learning what makes a top spin longer and what factors affect spinning. They focused on key concepts like center of gravity, inertia and friction then conducted an experiment to see which objects would spin longer—heavier or lighter and why. The program concluded with a Chanukah kumzitz all together in the Naomi Rosenfeld Kehila Center.
