It is never easy to refute an opposing argument. In order to so, one would have to research the topic and have valid proof as to why the other side is in the wrong. At JKHA, the middle school debate team has been researching and debating the following resolution for the last several weeks: “The United States should switch to the year round school model.”

The pro teams challenged the con teams and vice versa with their speeches, crossings and rebuttals. They worked hard on editing their speeches to make sure all the guidelines were met. When debate day arrived this past Wednesday, debaters could not wait to share all of their opinions about the subject with their opponents HALB and Yavneh. Students got the opportunity to share their speeches during rounds one and two. They were ecstatic to hear the announcement that JKHA won first place school, first place speaker, second place team and third place team.
