In addition to learning about Shavuot in the classroom, JKHA middle school provided robust programming for the division “outside” of the classroom.
It was a full lineup of inspiring learning sessions for the late night middle school “Pre-kun leil Shavuot,” as middle school Judaic Studies faculty taught late into the night to a packed Zoom of students. With topics discussing kindness, laws of conversion, acquiring Torah (and why you can’t just get it from Amazon!) and more, students were engaged in the opportunity to participate in nighttime learning for Shavuot with their classmates and faculty.
Shavuot for many is synonymous with cheesecake and dairy dessert. Educational Technologist Mrs. Rubin, Director of Educational Programming Morah Shirely Gantz and middle school faculty member Stacey Zeif led an interactive Cheesecake Wars, sharing videos of each of them with a favorite Shavuot recipe from cheesecake to ice cream. Students had the opportunity to make any or all of the items and vote on who should be crowned the winner.
