JKHA middle school students reflected on the tragedy in Meron by recognizing that the response to tragedy needs to be one of growth and personal improvement. Mitzvot for Meron is an initiative that encouraged each JKHA middle school student to accept upon themselves a small improvement in their mitzvah performance and their relationship with Hashem. Students were guided to pick something small, specific and meaningful to them. Students posted their commitments on a communal display in the hallway and shared them on a Google form that will be shared with one of the families that is mourning the loss of their son. JKHA/RKYHS parents were encouraged to do the same and joined the initiative as well. Students hope that their mitzvot will be a merit and an elui neshama for those who were lost.
