Seventh and eighth graders had the opportunity to mark and reflect on the passing of Rav Chaim Kanievsky זצ”ל with a Zoom presentation by Rabbi Chaim Marcus of Congregation Israel in Springfield. Rabbi Marcus summarized Rav Kanievsky’s personality as someone who loved Hashem, loved Torah and loved Klal Yisrael. He emphasized to students that what made Rav Kanievsky special was not just his complete mastery of Torah but how he was able to value every second of his time and yet still give so much of his time to helping others. Rabbi Marcus encouraged students to attempt to fill the void left by his passing by accepting upon themselves a few minutes a day of extra Torah learning or extra chesed and students left inspired to learn from his legacy.
