JKHA MS Debate Team Takes Home First Place

Congratulations to the JKHA Middle School Debate Team on winning first place school in their debate. JKHA hosted the debate today in the Naomi Rosenfeld Kehilah Center and welcomed teams from BPY, Moriah and Yeshivat Noam. Four pairs of students from the JKHA Debate Team debated the resolution: The United States Government should provide free college education for those students attending state college in their state, and those attending private college should receive a voucher equivalent to the average cost of all state schools in that state.

The teams were invested in their research and worked collaboratively to write speeches and practice debating with one another, offering each other respectful, constructive criticism. In addition to JKHA placing as first place school in the debate, JKHA students took home first and second place individual speaker awards and first and second place team awards, tying for one with a team from BPY. As a host school, members of the Debate Team not actively debating were able to take part in other roles throughout the competition.
