JKHA Participates in ‘Battle of the Books’

To kick off March as National Reading Month, JKHA middle schoolers launched Battle of the Books this week in Language Arts class. Students are excited to make a selection from the list and start reading. The goals of the program are to encourage reading for pleasure, broaden reading interest, and recognize student engagement. Each middle school student received an email with the book lists. Students must read three books to participate in the competition, but they are encouraged to read more. The battle will have two rounds. Before the in-person competition, students will fill out a Google form to qualify for the competition. The live competition will be a game show style championship and prizes will be awarded. While there will be a winning team, all participants will be recognized for their participation with a pizza lunch.
