JKHA Places First at Debate

Congratulations to the JKHA middle school Debate Team on winning first place school in their debate last week. JKHA traveled to Yavneh to compete against them and Yeshivah of Flatbush. Four pairs of students from the JKHA Debate Team debated the resolution: Students over the age of 13 should be held criminally responsible for the negative effects of bullying in schools or online. The teams were invested in their research and worked collaboratively to write speeches and practice debating with one another, offering each other respectful constructive criticism. They worked on defining what constitutes bullying and the negative effects of bullying in order to further their cogent arguments for each side. In addition to JKHA placing as first place school in the debate, the eighth grade team of Alex J. and Lily S. took home second place team and Alex J. took home second place individual awards. Yashar koach to all members of the team!
