JKHA Second Graders Organize Clothing Drive For the Homeless

After reading the book “The Hundred Dresses” where the main character was teased for always wearing the same faded dress, JKHA second graders organized a school-wide clothing drive to help those in need. Before Thanksgiving, second graders brought the many bags they collected filled with clothing, shoes, blankets and more to RKYHS faculty member Rabbi Kirsch and representatives from the RKYHS Homeless Awareness Club. The RKYHS Homeless Awareness Club arranged for the clothing to be distributed to those in need through Urban Renewal in Newark on the day before Thanksgiving. The students were overwhelmed to see the mountain of bags of clothing they had collected and expressed their thanks to everyone in the whole JKHA/RKYHS school community who helped donate clothing.
