The sixth grade girls at JKHA took part in a week-long bat mitzvah-focused program. At this time in their lives with physical, emotional and religious changes taking place, the programming focused on helping them transition into this next phase and will help them get the most out of this once-in-a-lifetime occasion.
Highlights of the week include a learning program concentrating on female role models in Tanach, simcha dancing session with Jewish dancing expert Dina Emerson, sessions with community Rebbetzins Sharon Zwickler and Lea Marcus, discussing the significance of becoming a bat mitzvah, packing shabbat kits for hospitalized patients and a discussion-provoking project about their own personal foundations and influences. The program concluded with a joint color war program with Yachad members and a keepsake project in which students created a #WhoIWantToBe inspiration collage or mission statement of the type of person they want to be based on everything they learned throughout the week.
