During Chanukah, every JKHA student—in both lower and middle school—had the opportunity to participate in an Hour of Code. The activities were part of a coding program that is run in schools worldwide to introduce students to computer science skills through age-appropriate programming games and activities. Not only did students learn to program computers, but they also learned sequencing and logic skills and how to manage when programs didn’t work on the first try.
Students processed the values of problem-solving, challenging oneself and working with unknown elements. They learned about computer engineering in the real world through short videos by Steph Curry and Mark Zuckerberg. This helped students understand that the skills they were learning were applicable in their everyday lives.
