JKHA Students Vote During Mitzvah Mania

As Mitzvah Mania came to an end at the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy, students voted on their choice of chesed initiative. All of the middle school grades competed, compiling and sharing information about their suggestions. The fifth grade concept was “Car Wash for IDF,” the sixth grade’s, “Carnival for Diabetes,” seventh grade’s, “Bowling for Shaare Zedek Medical Center” and eighth grade’s, “T-shirts for Visions of Israel.” Dressed in red, white and blue on Election Day, all JKHA students went to the library, which was set up as a voting station.

“We were thrilled to be able to truly bring the election process to life for our students,” commented Ariel Levenson, Director of Humanities, Middle School, who developed the program. “At JKHA, our students learn by actively immersing themselves in their education, diving deeply into topics that are relevant and personally meaningful, which came together in a beautiful way through our Election Day program.”

The election was close, but the winner was the sixth grade’s idea, “Carnival for Diabetes.” The students are all extremely excited to turn the idea into reality.
