AMIT, Israel’s premier educational network, will join “JM in the AM” host Nachum Segal for a special Yom Yerushalayim broadcast live from Jerusalem on Wednesday, May 24.
Tune in from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. (EST) to hear about how AMIT is revolutionizing education in Israel with its cutting-edge teaching methods that level the playing field, especially for children who live in Israel’s periphery.
Segal will speak with 10 members of AMIT’s Yom Yerushalyim mission about how AMIT is transforming the lives of Israeli children on a daily basis. AMIT enables Israel’s youth to realize their potential, and strengthens Israeli society by educating and nurturing children from diverse backgrounds within a framework of academic excellence, Jewish values and Zionist ideals. The mission includes a special glimpse into education innovation in Israel through the amazing work of our students, teachers and administrators. Participants will partake in unique historical tours of Jerusalem and the always climactic unifying parade joining with hundreds of thousands of people through the streets of Jerusalem.
“In its 92nd year, the evidence of AMIT’s impact on Israeli society is compelling,” said AMIT National President Debbie Moed. “In 2016, the Ministry of Education singled out AMIT as the country’s leading educational network, citing its bagrut (matriculation) success rate, pedagogical innovation, pluralism and programs bridging educational gaps. Eighty-five percent of AMIT students obtained their bagrut certificates, compared to the national average of 70 percent. AMIT students won national and international competitions in cyber, math and robotics and were awarded for social activism and civic involvement.”
The show will air live from the rooftop of Aish HaTorah world headquarters, overlooking the Kotel plaza and just steps from the Yom Yerushalyim flag parade and other festivities marking the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem. To hear the broadcast, tune into WFMU (https://wfmu.org/), the independent free-form radio station broadcasting at 91.1 FM in the New York City area or at 90.1 FM in the Hudson, or stream the broadcast live from AMIT’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/amit.children.
