This past Tuesday evening, Teaneck’s David and Michal Kahan opened their home to JNF’s unique Special In Uniform, a groundbreaking program that integrates special needs adults into the IDF. The main speaker was the director of this program—Lt. Col (Res.) Tiran Attia—a longtime IDF veteran and commander—who showed a video showcasing the program and explained that Special In Uniform is the only program of its kind in any army in the world. He explained that he was recruited about ten years ago by Special in Uniform founder Maj. Gen. Gabi Ophir to head up the program and he believes that the program has already changed the IDF and has the potential to change all of Israeli society as well. Also present at the evening was Yossi Kahana, the director of the JNF Task Force on Disabilities who spoke about his efforts to familiarize our community with JNF’s work in this area.
