Know a college graduate looking to make a difference? Seeking a fulfilling place to work, or give back to the Jewish community before graduate or professional school? Applications for the Joel Daner Yachad Communal Fellowship are now being accepted for the program year beginning August 2015. Deadline for application submissions is March 3, 2015.
Yachad, the flagship program of the Orthodox Union’s National Jewish Council for Disabilities (NJCD), provides unique social, educational and recreational programs for individuals with learning, developmental and physical disabilities with the goal of promoting their Inclusion in the full spectrum of Jewish life. The paid fellowship, which is now in its second year, is seeking two recent college graduates interested in furthering Yachad’s mission as a groundbreaking human rights organization that has been a trailblazing force promoting disability Inclusion for the last 30 years. The program will support the fellows’ development in working as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team aimed to meet the social and inclusive needs of Jewish individuals with diverse disabilities. This includes, but is not limited to, Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental challenges, deaf and hard of hearing, physical disabilities, and medical health and mental health needs.
Eli Hagler, associate director of Yachad, explained, “The Joel Daner Yachad Communal Fellowship aspires to develop promising young leaders intending to go into altruistic career fields in healthcare, not-for-profit organizations, public relations, or policy planning; or those who hope to serve the broad Jewish community in a lay leadership capacity. For anyone who wants to make a difference, the fellowship is a prime opportunity. We hope that this fellowship will not only pave the road for future careers, but also have a personal effect on the importance of Inclusion as a mindset throughout their lives.”
