Join Chabad of West Orange on Sunday, March 12, at 5:30 p.m. for their annual Purim celebration. Enjoy a hot, kosher dinner buffet, a magic show, the reading of the Megillah and much more.
Billed as the most joyous date on the Jewish calendar, the holiday commemorates the nullification in 356 B.C.E. of a Persian decree calling for the extermination of the Jewish people throughout the Persian Empire, as told in the biblical Book of Esther.
The celebration will feature a child-friendly comedic magician who will mesmerize and amaze with his incredible feats of magic and balloon making.
A final reading of the Book of Esther, known in Hebrew as the Megillah, will take place at 6:30 p.m.
In the spirit of Purim, participants are encouraged to dress in costume for a masquerade. There will be a competition for the most innovative and original costumes.
The event is a community-wide program, and all are welcome to join, regardless of Jewish affiliation or background.
Reservations are required. Please visit www.chabadwestorange.com/celebrate to register or call 973-325-6311.
