Join Ma’ayanot and Project Ezrah for Genius Bar 2.0

Building on last year’s success, Project Ezrah and Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls are proud to invite women in the community to their second annual Genius Bar, a “reverse mentorship” program for women eager to learn new technology skills as they re-enter the workforce. Attendees will be paired with Ma’ayanot student mentors who will work one on one to help the women achieve their goals. This year’s program will take place every Monday morning in March.

“The overarching goal is to help women attain technology skills and feel confident to reenter the workforce,” said Mrs. Orly Nadler, director of educational technology and co-director of STEAM at Ma’ayanot. The Ma’ayanot student mentors are well-trained digital natives who look forward to sharing their “genius” skills. The Genius Bar, which is free of charge, has several menu options to choose from, including Google apps, Microsoft Office, graphic design, iMovie, social media and general computing.

“Technology can be scary, especially if you haven’t been expected to use it all day, every day,” said Rachel Book, director of Diversity Recruiting at a major financial services company and a volunteer at Project Ezrah for career-related initiatives. “Our Genius Bar gives you the opportunity to overcome your fears and embrace how technology can streamline your life in a judgement-free and friendly environment. Also, as with all reverse-mentoring programs, your Ma’ayanot Genius will learn a lot from you along the way.”

This year, the Ma’ayanot-Project Ezrah team have added a new educational feature: An HR professional in addition to Ma’ayanot’s Technology staff will be giving a pre-session talk on the topics of LinkedIn, personal branding, Google apps and advanced internet resourcefulness. Afterward attendees will proceed to guided, one-on-one mentorship sessions.

The program will take place at Ma’ayanot, 1650 Palisade Ave., Teaneck, on March 5, 12, 19 and 26, 11:15 a.m.-12:20 p.m.
