October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Rachel Coalition, a division of Jewish Family Service of MetroWest, has a month of activities planned to bring awareness in both the urban and suburban communities.

4th Annual Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, October 11.
Rachel Coalition, along with partnering local agencies, will be hosting the 4th Annual Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, October 11, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Livingston Memorial Oval in Livingston. This event raises awareness of domestic violence in both the urban and suburban communities and educates the community on the services Rachel Coalition and other local agencies offer to victims.
Rachel Coalition, a division of Jewish Family Service serving Morris, Essex, and parts of Hudson County, has planned this event with local community partners, Safe House of Essex County, Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, and Family Justice Center of Newark. The program includes a musical performance by Soulfege, A Cappella of Millburn High School. Along with our organizers, political leadership, local law enforcement, Domestic Violence Response Team members, and clergy of multiple denominations will be present to honor the victims and survivors.

Family Court Advocate Training
Rachel Coalition provides legal and mental health services to victims of domestic violence as well as Court Advocate and Domestic Violence Response Team training for the Essex County residents. Women to Women Luncheon
Featuring speaker Jennie Willoughby, domestic violence survivor who has been outspoken about her abuser, Rob Porter, a former White House aide. Willoughby’s experience has shone a bright light on domestic violence, and how abuse of power, privilege and victim blaming are still issues for victims when they tell their story.
