Congregation Lev Le’Daas is certainly not a typical Teaneck shul. To call it a Chasidic (or maybe neo-Chasidic) shtiebel would be like calling a Seder a dinner party. The growing congregation includes a remarkable variety of seekers, professionals, Chasidim, intellectuals and mystics ranging in age from young singles to retirees. This diverse and friendly community has been learning and gaining inspiration from Rabbis Shmuel Braun and Mark Gottlieb. It should come as no surprise, then, that Lev Le’Daas sponsors novel and intriguing events.
Congregation Lev Le’Daas invites the public to meet on Sunday, April 10 at 3 p.m. at 1193 East Laurelton Parkway in Teaneck (southeast corner of Forest Avenue) for a Biblical and Talmudic botany neighborhood walking tour led by Jon Greenberg, PhD, author of “Fruits of Freedom: The Torah Flora Hagadah.” There is no charge for this event, which will introduce the attendees to the remarkable Torah wisdom, history and inspiration to be found in the ordinary-looking plants that we see every day. “Fruits of Freedom” will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the program.
