Frisch hockey defenseman Judah Volodarsky was named NJIHL Player of the Week. In the past three games he has scored seven goals and five assists including two hat tricks against Bayonne and Kearny. Volodarsky, a sophomore, is currently tied with senior Jack Margolius for the team lead with 19 points.
After taking both ends of a home series with Bayonne, Volodarsky led the Cougars to a 5-3 win over a tough, physical Kearny squad with his second hat trick of the week and added two assists. Trailing 2-1 in the second period, Volodarsky tied the game at two, with assists from Margolius (three points) and Aiden Sholomon. Volodarsky then proceeded to score the go-ahead goal with:41 seconds left in the period, but Kearny would tie the game on a goal by Sean Golone four minutes into the third period. Freshman Sholomon (four points) would score the game winner just two minutes later, assisted by Jack Fischer and Volodarsky. David Schenker added a power play goal with two minutes left to seal the tough win.
Next up for the Cougars are the division leading Johnson High School before the break.
