On Wednesday, January 27, at 11:30 a.m., the YM-YWHA of Union County is again hosting its annual President’s Day luncheon to the community. This year it will be featuring “Julian.” Julian has performed locally and regionally in clubs and restaurants, where he impersonates some of the world’s most famous musicians, including Pavarotti, Elvis, Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Mathis, Luther Vandros and others. While audiences love his renditions of classics, they are amazed when he sings both as Nat King Cole and his daughter, Natalie Cole.
Julian has performed with The Stylists and The Delfonics and with Christina Aguilera on the hit album “Just be There,” and his voice can be heard on TV ads for American Airlines, Pontiac, Ford and Burger King. He wrote and sang the hit song “Take me in Your Arms” that sold over 600,00 copies and as a single reached number 48 on the Billboard Chart.
On Sept 5, 2014, Julian won the national Baby Boomer Idol contest which was sponsored by AARP and American Idol with American Idol’s own Randy Jackson hosting the event. The judges included Emilio Estefan and Patti Austin. This was performed in front of a live audience and he tied with singer Ka Wright for first place. He picked up a cash award as well as a music label and recording sessions. The Y is delighted to be able to again share Julian’s talents with the community.
A delicious luncheon will be served along with the musical entertainment. The luncheon is open to the entire community. The cost is $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Reservations are required and can be made up until Jan. 18. Please call Susan for reservations at (908)289-8112 ext. 34.
The Y is located at 501 Green Lane in Union.
