Earlybird Deadline: December 15
Students in grades 10–12 from throughout Bergen County are invited to participate in the Teen Mission to Washington, DC–Panim el Panim–a seminar offered by the Teen Department at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades. This intensive, three-day program will serve as a platform to explore today’s hottest issues with leading experts and influential speakers. Previous topics included homelessness, foreign policy, and healthcare reform. In addition, teens will have an opportunity to volunteer at local service agencies such as the Food Bank, Food & Friends, Washington Parks and People, and the DC Central Kitchen. The seminar will culminate with a trip to Capitol Hill, where students will have the unique opportunity to sit down and discuss a policy issue that is important to them with state representatives and their staff.
The programming is meant to inspire young adults with a passion for social justice, provide firsthand leadership development opportunities, and engage teens in meaningful community-service projects that allow them to “Be the Change” they want to see in the world.
The early-bird deadline is December 15. Cost is $450 per participant for JCC members and $550 for non-members. Final registration deadline is February 13, where cost increases to $500 per participant for members and $600 for non-members. Additional discounts are available for teens already enrolled in JCC Teen Department programs. For more information, call Michal Greenbaum at 201-408-1469 or [email protected].
