Kaplen JCC Looks at Cinema Through American-Jewish Lens

Over the past decade and a half, Israel has emerged as one of the great centers for filmmaking. In addition to its artistic excellence, Israeli cinema provides intimate insights into the dynamic nature of Israel and its diverse people. Prospecting the cinema provides an ideal “lens” by which we gain a greater understanding of Israel’s history, culture and challenges. Through film clips from movies spanning the decades, Dr. Eric Goldman will examine the changing nature of Israeli society as reflected through its cinema. Goldman is adjunct professor of cinema at Yeshiva University and author of “The American Jewish Story through Cinema.” The event will take place Sunday, May 6, 7:30 p.m., $10/$12. Register at jccotp.org/films. Presented in partnership with New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
