The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades is now taking registration for its 36th annual Rubin Run, which will take place on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14. This exciting USATF (United States Track and Field) authorized event expects to draw over 1,700 runners from the tri-state area. Runners, their cheering families, supporters and sponsors all share in a meaningful celebration that focuses on family and fitness, while raising important funds for programs that help improve the quality of life for individuals with special needs. Participants are encouraged to build teams and raise funds.
“With the support of our community, we continue to collect significant donations each year that allow us to fulfill a core JCC mission—to provide meaningful opportunities for people with special needs that enable them to flourish to their full potential,” said JCC chief executive officer Jordan Shenker. “We pride ourselves on the vast array of social, vocational and independent living skills we offer people with special needs that allow them to be productive, healthy and engaged members of our community. The Rubin Run helps make this possible year after year.”
The run, which is also dedicated to helping people realize their best fitness potential, offers a half marathon, a 10K run and a 5K run/walk, providing something for everyone. In preparation for the race, participants can train under the skilled guidance of experienced JCC fitness staff. Options include independent training, running clubs for people for group training and one-on-one personal training, as well as a 5K training program for youth ages 6-13.
Race-day features will include outdoor activities for kids, lite bites and beverages, free babysitting, pre-race stretches and warm-ups, CompuScore race-recording, trophies to the top three male and female winners in each age category and a medal for all children under 10 who finish the race. And, in honor of Mother’s Day, all participating moms will receive a rose as they cross the finish line.
Individuals or teams can register online at jccotp.org/rubinrun. Online registration runs until May 10. Thereafter, registration is at the JCC.
The run’s current lead sponsors include The Kaplen Foundation, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, the Rubin Family, the Jewish Standard and the North Jersey Media Group.
