(Courtesy of Kaplan JCC) Two June events are proud to support programs and services for seniors: Lavish Lunches Evening Edition on Thursday, June 2 and the Mitzvah Lunch on Tuesday, June 7.
Lavish Lunches Evening Edition will bring the women of the community together in support of the JCC’s critical senior services programs. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, June 2 at 7 p.m. outdoors at a private home in Tenafly.
The Shavuot-inspired evening, emceed by Emmy-award winning reporter and author and substitute anchor at NBC New York Jen Maxfield, will include small bites, festive drinks, a DJ and a stimulating program featuring international best-selling author and lecturer, Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar.
Mitzvah Lunch invites attendees to join participants of senior programs and their caregivers to enjoy a meaningful lunch including entertainment. The luncheon will take place on Tuesday, June 7 at 12 p.m. at the Kaplen JCC. This year’s event will pay special tribute to the caregiver community.
Over the past year, the JCC’s senior department provided programs and services to hundreds of seniors and caregivers. Some key highlights include:
- Served 12,000 hot kosher meals to 450 seniors
- Provided 2-3 daily virtual programs to socially isolated seniors
- Engaged 646 seniors through 21,000 activities including chair exercise, musical entertainment and many discussion groups
- Provided three virtual caregiver support groups each week to 300 caregivers
- Brought back the Senior Activity Center and the Adult Reach Center in person each week Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
