(Courtesy of Kaplen JCC on the Palisades) The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades is now taking registration for its 37th annual Rubin Run, which will take place on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13. This exciting USATF (USA Track and Field) sanctioned event, attended by more than 1,500 people each year, celebrates family and fitness, while raising important funds for programs that improve the quality of life for individuals with special needs in our community.
This year’s event will feature an exciting new option—an 8k trail run through the Lost Brook Preserve, which is maintained by the Tenafly Nature Center. The Run will also include its annual 10K and 5K options and has been designed to provide something for everyone. In preparation for the race, participants can train under the skilled guidance of experienced JCC fitness staff.
“The Rubin Run exemplifies everything we stand for at the JCC,” says JCC Chief Executive Officer Jordan Shenker. “It brings our community together to share in something meaningful; it celebrates family togetherness—and on a very special day; it acknowledges the importance of fitness and healthy lifestyles; and it raises significant funds for one of the JCC’s most core missions, which is to provide people with special needs with meaningful programs that allow them to flourish to their best potential and become productive, healthy and engaged members of our community.”
Adding to the fun, the event will feature outdoor activities for kids, lite bites and beverages, free babysitting, pre-race stretches, CompuScore race-recording, trophies and medals. In honor of Mother’s Day, all participating moms receive a rose as they cross the finish line.

The Rubin Run is named for the late Leonard Rubin, a past president and founder of the JCC, who established this community-wide athletic event to encourage and promote healthy living.
