Kaplen JCC on the Palisades Welcomes New Neil Klatskin Camp Director

Tenafly–Jessica Spiegel has been appointed as the new director of the Neil Klatskin Day Camp (NKDC) at the Kaplen JCC. Jessica has been part of the Jewish camping world for most of her life and possesses more than a decade of professional camping experience. For the past two summers, she has served as program director for Eretz, the NKDC division for 3rd–6th graders that takes place at the Alpine Scout Camp. Jessica previously worked for six years as the director of New Country Day Camp of the 14th Street Y in Manhattan, where she grew enrollment from 250 to more than 600 campers. Her success in this position secured New Country’s status as a leading day camp for children in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Jessica holds a master’s degree in informal Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary, and a bachelor’s degree in Hebrew, International Studies, and Jewish Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

“We are excited to welcome Jessica as our new camp director and encourage families to come meet her to learn about all the exciting things she is planning for our campers,” say JCC CEO Avi A. Lewinson. “With her accomplished camp background and her passion for the Jewish camping experience, I know this will be an amazing summer!”

The Neil Klatskin Day Camp, for children ages 3–11, runs from June 29–August 21, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., offering fabulous fun and non-stop adventure on the JCC 21-acre campus in Tenafly and 600-acre campus in Alpine that provide the perfect backdrop for campers to enjoy the great outdoors, make new friends, and learn new skills. The camp features age-appropriate activities that include arts and crafts, athletics, daily Red Cross instructional and recreational swim, Israeli culture, Judaic programming, drama, music, martial arts, exciting entertainment, awesome carnivals, special theme days, Oneg Shabbat celebrations, and more, all in a nurturing Jewish environment. Four, six, seven, or eight-week options. Extended care and transportation available. For more information on camp, call 201-567-8963.
