(Courtesy of Kaplen JCC on the Palisades) The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades is excited to announce its 19th annual “Play Fore! the Kids: Golf, Tennis & Games” outing at Alpine Country Club in Demarest, New Jersey, on Monday, August 5. The event raises critical funds for children with special needs, allowing the JCC to offer a wide range of meaningful programs and services that help them to reach their highest potential.
The day begins with many exciting options, including brunch for all, men’s and women’s tennis, a women’s only nine-hole tournament and 18-hole golf that includes green fees, cart and caddy, on-course refreshments and lunch. The day also features games including mah-jongg, bridge or canasta, where participants can play and enjoy lunch as a group or as a single participant to be paired with others. The festivities will continue into the evening with a strolling cocktail dinner reception (dietary laws observed), along with exciting online and live auctions featuring exclusive sporting-event packages and one-of-a-kind dream destinations.
“The goal of the day is to share in some light-hearted fun with friends and family while connecting people to a core mission of the JCC—which is to do our part to ensure that all children with special needs have access to important life experiences that not only bring them new skills, but make them feel included as valuable members of our community,” explained JCC CEO Jordan Shenker. “Our annual golf and games event helps us to succeed in this effort, as we continue to draw new participants and reach new goals each year.”
Registration is open for foursomes, games and the dinner reception at jccotp.org/playforethekids. A wide range of sponsorship opportunities is also available. Attending or sponsoring the event ensures that children and teens with special needs have the opportunity participate in JCC summer camps and programs where they can learn valuable life skills for more independent living. These programs are specifically geared for children with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual and developmental disabilities, neurological and cognitive impairments, communication and language differences and physical challenges. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the JCC heavily relies on the community to offer support for those who need it most and to remain a leading resource to individuals in New Jersey.
Presenting sponsors include the Hechler Family and the Kurtz & Spadaccini Family. Event co-chairs include Daniel Cohn, Cory Hechler and Tracy Reichel; auctions co-chairs are Jacqueline Pollack and Lindsay Till; and the games and tennis co-chairs are Stephanie Cohn, Jenna Gutmann and Jillian Somberg. The dedicated committee includes Becky Canarick, Lindsay Fries, Daryn Katz, Gabrielle Marcus, Jonathan Marks, Jennifer Peykar, Eva Rubach, JoJo Rubach, Bari Shore, Lindsay Skulnik and special recognition to the founding co-chairs, Michael Kollender, JoJo Rubach and Barry Zeller.
