Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Imagine my surprise when I walked out of my home on the evening of November 7 to see a belligerent mob 100 feet away, having been escorted there by the police so they can disrupt my right to live in peace on my previously quiet, dead-end street and put my daughter to sleep without her being afraid for her life; so they can chant about genocide and blow air horns, while holding up a picture of Adolf Hitler.

Actually, I was not surprised at all to see them, as I had watched the police setting up barricades that morning to prepare for this protest, having known about it for days. While I am sincerely grateful and appreciative of the efforts of police officers who put their lives at risk to protect ours, I can’t help being extremely disappointed in the town’s leadership for allowing this to take place on my block at all.

In my email to the members of the Bergenfield Council that day, I asked a simple question: if a protest by outside agitators can be allowed to take place on a residential street without a permit, what is the purpose of requiring a permit? I have not yet received any response, which I believe I should be entitled to as a taxpayer.
