In your first publication after the holidays, you featured some community sukkah parties or Smachot Beit Hashoeva hosted by some local residents (“A Sampling of Notable Central NJ Sukkot,” October 24, 2019). I want to bring to your attention that some of these festivities held outside in the sukkah, some serving alcohol and continuing late into the night, are disturbing neighbors who need quiet sleep in their homes, especially on a Yom Tov. The gatherings outside should cease at 11:00 p.m. and if a kumzitz should ensue, the group must relocate to inside the house. Any hesitation to defer to common consideration is an overt aveira bein adam lachaveiro. Please spread the word!
