(Courtesy of Keshet) Young women approaching the age of bat mitzvah who are looking to do something meaningful with their mothers now have the opportunity to participate in Keshet’s Mother-Daughter Bat Mitzvah Trip to Israel led by Sharona Margolin Halickman.
The action packed trip will run from November 23-December 2, 2019, and will include Tanach study on site, exposure to female role models in the past and present, fun, educational and spiritual chesed experiences, all presented within a Modern Orthodox framework including the opportunity to mark their b’not mitzvah in a meaningful ceremony.
Highlights will include archeology, shuk tasting, scavenger hunts, a hands-on chocolate workshop, community service, Thanksgiving dinner with female lone soldiers and a Yad Vashem twinning program. On site Torah study will be conducted throughout the country where the stories took place. The program will concentrate on Biblical leaders including Rachel Imenu, Hannah, Hulda and Devora. Historical and modern-day women who will be focused on will include Rachel, Rabbi Akiva’s wife, Dona Gracia, songwriters Rachel and Naomi Shemer, Golda Meir and Hannah Senesh.
This trip is great for young women who have been to Israel before as well as those who have not. The onsite learning and activities will be eye opening and meaningful to both mothers and daughters alike.
The best bat mitzvah gift that one can give their daughter is the gift of the love of Torat Eretz Yisrael in the State of Israel. It will be an experience that they will always cherish and make new friends along the way.
