Kol hakavod to The Jewish Link for publishing Toby Klein Greenwald’s tribute to Rav Eliezer Waldman, z”l (“Rabbi Eliezer Waldman, z”l, Forward-Thinking Man of Wisdom, Compassion and Peace,” December 23, 2021). Beginning in 1994, it was his Yeshivat Nir in Kiryat Arba that coordinated the unique Israel missions whose sponsorship was later assumed by Americans for a Safe Israel. Those of us in AFSI who bunked at the yeshiva during the annual Shabbat Chayei Sarah mass gatherings next door in Hebron, or simply visited the yeshiva, were the recipients of Rav Waldman’s warmth and graciousness. We imbibed his words of wisdom and witnessed the reverence his talmidim had for him. We were deeply impressed by his personal heroism. Yehei zichro baruch—May his memory be a blessing.
