Koren Releases Torah MiEtzion: Bamidbar

With the June release of Torah MiEtzion: Bamidbar, Maggid Books is proud to announce the completion of the five-volume Torah MiEtzion series.

The Torah MiEtzion series is a collection of essays on the weekly Torah portion by selected faculty of Yeshivat Har Etzion. The essays use an innovative methodology called “the literary-theological method” which combines traditional interpretation with the scholarly disciplines of literary analysis, geography, archeology, and history, to produce new, eye-opening understandings of the biblical narrative. Inspired by Rabbi Yehuda Amital, (zt”l), and Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein—founding heads of Yeshivat Har Etzion—the methodology has proliferated throughout other advanced learning institutions within the Modern Orthodox world, reviving and revolutionizing the study of Tanach.

“The reactions to this series—from teachers and students, rabbis and laypeople—have been beyond our expectations,” says Rabbi Reuven Ziegler, chairman of Koren’s editorial board and founder of Yeshivat Har Etzion’s Israel Koschitzky Virtual Beit Midrash, where these essays first appeared. “A scholarly, literary analysis of Tanach opens your eyes to new structural patterns and themes in the text, while highlighting the religious meaning of the biblical narrative.”

Each volume in the series features essays by such leading scholars as Rabbis Yaakov Medan, Mordechai Sabato, Yair Kahn, Yehuda Rock, Amnon Bazak, Yonatan Grossman, Yoel Bin- Nun, Chanoch Waxman, Menachem Leibtag, Ezra Bick, Rabbanit Sharon Rimon, and Dr. Yael Ziegler. Having garnered wide acclaim for its depth, innovation and perceptiveness, this series sets a new standard for all future study of parashat hashavua.

Torah MiEtzion is published by Maggid Books, a division of Koren Publishers Jerusalem that offers new approaches to Jewish texts and themes from the world’s leading rabbis, scholars and philosophers. The series is published in cooperation with Yeshivat Har Etzion.

Torah MiEtzion is available online and at local Jewish bookstores.
