In the 14 years that Scott Garrett has served in Congress, he has consistently claimed to be a fiscally responsible conservative. In reality, he’s costing his constituents $14,000 per person by simply not doing his job. There’s nothing responsible about that.

When we send our taxpayer dollars to Washington, only get back 33 cents come back here to transportation infrastructure. It’s one of the worst returns on investments in the nation, and the difference between what we pay out in federal tax dollars and what we get back equates to $14,000 a person each year. It’s called the “Garrett Tax,” and business and families in the Fifth District simply can’t afford it.

We cannot afford a Congressman who does not fight for us.

From too high of taxes to all the uncertainty in the Middle East – the rise of ISIS and an emboldened Iran – we must work to solve the problems that affect all of us, not turn up the partisan dial and obstruct common sense solutions from being enacted.

For the sake of our national security and that of Israel’s, our most important ally in the Middle East, I ask for your help, to elect Josh Gottheimer to Congress.

Many Democrats supported the Iran Deal, but last summer, Josh came out against the deal’s numerous problems. He crossed party lines to oppose the bad deal and has publicly stated he’ll always stand by Israel. An AIPAC member, Josh is someone we can count on to strengthen our relations with Israel, economically and diplomatically, as well as improving defense collaborations.

While Garrett has sat around twiddling his thumbs, Gottheimer has released several policy plans focused on cutting taxes, eliminating government waste, and creating and keeping jobs here in New Jersey. We need a Congressman with such caliber and substance.

Whether it’s keeping our family safe or keeping more of our tax dollars in our pocket, Gottheimer is the way to go.
