The Kushner Cobras Boys JV Soccer Team was victorious in last week’s championship game versus the TABC Storm. The game, held at the Frisch School, ended in a final score of 3-1, with Max Kops scoring the first goal for the Cobras and Marc Yarkony the second two.

The team’s emotions ran high after the game. Yarkony, RKYHS sophomore, said, “It feels great. We worked hard all season for this and we finally got what we deserved.” MVP goalie Eli Slonim said, “It was a very nice experience and to be with my team just felt amazing.” Coach Logan Singman said, “It feels amazing after three years of hard work to finally result in a championship.”

The standout player in the game was Slonim. His play throughout the season was truly impressive and he was awarded the MVP honors at the school’s sports dinner, held on Thursday, May 28. “It feels pretty amazing,” he said after winning the award. “He did a very great job for me these past two seasons, and I’m glad we got a championship for him,” Singman said.

The most important part of winning a championship is the teamwork involved. Kushner would not have won the trophy if not for every single player on the squad, believes Singman, who had some very nice thoughts to share about his team. “My whole team, they played amazing, top to bottom, even the guys who don’t necessarily get in the game. Every single one of my players has a hand in this championship. Thank God I was blessed with some very good players. All the players, all the way down the line, everyone just did amazing.”

The players themselves also had very nice things to say about their teammates. “I’m just very proud of them for what they’ve done, the whole year, and I’m just happy that we won,” Slonim said. “They played great,” Marc Yarkony noted. “They really stepped up. They all did their part, their share, and that’s why we really won.”
