Kushner Cross Country Captures First Place

The Kushner Cobras boys cross country team won its first meet in school history on Sunday, October 28, at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

The Cobras edged out both TABC and Heschel by one point each. Leading the way was junior Mendel Dashevsky, who finished first and bested his previous time by 23 seconds (21:25). Sophomores Eli Novick and Maurice Korish finished seventh and ninth, and both ran personal record (PR) times (22:22 and 22:33, respectively) to help put Kushner over the top.

The Cobras will aim for their first yeshiva league championship in history on November 11, at Van Cortlandt Park.

Sophomore Leah Rubenstein also ran her fastest time ever as she paced the Cobra girls to a fourth place finish (28:25). Rubenstein finished fourth overall. Sophomores Nava Chefitz, Ellie Coopersmith and Yonit Salit rounded out the top four for Kushner.
