Kushner Students Participate in Unity Day

The Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy Middle School and Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School joined together to observe Unity Day in memory of Eyal Ifrach, Gil-ad Shaer and Naftali Fraenkel, the three teens kidnapped and killed last summer in Israel. Students gathered in the auditorium and watched an introductory video made by The Unity Prize specifically for this purpose. This was followed by recollections and reflections by Rabbi Yaacov Feit and Ms. Margot Reinstein about the tragedy that occurred and the unity that resulted. Head of school Rabbi Eliezer Rubin inspired the students to think about what it means to be united through this tragedy, as he led them in Tehillim and a moment of silence. The program concluded with a Kel Maleh for the three boys, recited by Rabbi Shlomo Landau, and the singing of HaTikvah. In addition to the assembly, a delegation was sent to the JCC in New York City to participate in a communal Unity Day event. Over 1,000,000 people worldwide participated in some way in Unity Day.
