(Kushner sports) The stakes were very high. With the playoffs in the back of the minds of the players, the Kushner Cobras (6-4) were determined to make a statement around the league. The RKYHS boys varsity hockey team came into the game with lots of confidence. After all, earlier in the season the Frisch Cougars had squeaked by the Cobras by a slim margin of 1-0. The team was also on a modest two game winning streak prior to this showdown.
The final outcome far exceeded their expectations. Led by junior James Orbach who scored five goals, the game was definitely a full team effort. Junior Koby Eisenberg added a goal, senior captain Sam Steiner delivered some great assists, junior goalkeeper Simon Rosenfeld was outstanding at goalie, and senior Sean Felderman shut down the Frisch offense with his stellar defense.
The team is looking forward to the last stretch of the season, beginning with a home match vs. the MTA Lions.
