On February 1st, the Frisch girls’ varsity basketball team ended its season (9-3) with a victory over the Hillel Heat. The final score of the game was 38-37, the sixth out of their nine victories to end with a score differentials of less than 3 points.
The Frisch Cougars were up by 6 in the 1st quarter, but in the last three quarters the game remained close. The last minute was particularly intense: going into the last minute of play the Cougars were up by 1, then with 21 seconds left the Heat scored to put them up by 1. Then, with 5.2 seconds left, Aliza Pavel rebounded a missed shot and put it back up for a layup winning the Cougars the game.
The victory was particularly meaningful for the team’s seniors, as it was their last regular season home game. The team honored its seniors at halftime, and Isabel Muss, the team captain, gave a heartwarming speech.
The Frisch Cougars are looking forward to an exciting and promising playoff run.
