Lamdeinu’s Spring Semester Begins January 23rd

(Courtesy of Lamdeinu) Lamdeinu is so excited to announce our new spring schedule of classes and programs! Please mark your calendars to resume your favorites and to join our special new offerings.

Lamdeinu’s schedule kicks off on Monday January 23 with Dean Rachel Friedman’s signature Parshanut morning of learning. “Parshanut HaMikra on Sefer Bereishit: The Moral Trials of Yaakov” is a full morning experience from 10:15 AM- 12:30 PM and will begin via zoom. It includes both chevruta preparation and a brilliant and exciting interactive shiur discussion. It is a wonderful place to bond over the study of deep and inspiring Torah learning. We invite women to join this robust and enthusiastic group. There is always a place for new perspectives and analytic approaches.

Tuesday mornings beginning January 24 will feature an in depth Talmud study with Rabbi Gedalyah Berger from 9:15-11:00 AM. Rabbi Berger will explore Talmud Pesachim Chapter 4: The Authorities and Parameters of Minhag. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop and hone your Talmud skills in a supportive and deeply intellectual environment. All women are welcome.

Lamdeinu is so excited to begin a new course on Wednesdays January 25 – March 29 with the uniquely creative and erudite Rabbi Yitzchak Twersky. Rabbi Twersky specializes in literary study of Tanakh and has a global reputation for creative analysis of the Bible. We are therefore thrilled to include a fascinating series at Lamdeinu entitled “Revealing the Beauty of Sefer Yeshayahu.” This series will explore the text of Yeshayahu and its concepts in a deep and holistic way, elucidating the structure and flow of this challenging and beautiful book. Men and women are invited to attend and enjoy.

For a post-Pesach change of pace, Rabbi Twersky will tackle Mishnaic sources beginning Wednesday April 19. Men and women may take advantage of this unique opportunity to explore “The Sages Behind the saying: Pirkei Avot in Its Historical Context.” Join this shiur to study Pirkei Avot in depth, uncover hidden concepts and explore how these timeless sayings relate to the lives and characters of the Tannaim who taught them as well as to our lives today. This is a chance not to be missed!

Thursday mornings beginning January 26 at Lamdeinu are a time to explore our Tefillah and to prepare for the coming Shabbat’s Torah and Haftarah readings. Join Rabbi Gedalyah Berger from 11:00-12:15 pm to explore “Hilkhot Tefillah: Frameworks of Fervor.” And don’t forget our signature lunchtime one hour shiur with Rabbi Daniel Fridman who provides “Parashah and Haftarah Pointers” from 12:30-1:30 pm to enlighten your shul experience. Men and women are welcome.

But that is not all. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Lamdeinu’s special offerings in the Spring. Prepare for Purim and Pesach at Lamdeinu. On Monday February 13 and 27 at 1pm, Rabbi Hayyim Angel will explore Megillat Esther in a deep and thoughtful series that is sure to stimulate your curiosity. And while you are fasting and preparing for Purim, don’t forget to join Lamdeinu for Learning for Taanit Esther with Rabbi Dr. Shlomo Zuckier.

As you are planning your Seders and Haggadah thoughts, the creative and inspirational Ms. Channa Lockshin Bob will zoom in from Modiin on Monday March 27 at 1-2:15pm to enlighten you with some divrei Torah and divrei aggadah at Learning for Chag HaPesach.

Finally, mark your calendars now for Lamdeinu’s annual Yom HaAtzmaut Celebration For Women to be held on Wednesday, April 26th beginning at 9am. This event is for women only and we invite you to help with planning and participation. There is nothing like it outside of the Land of Israel! Join us for Tefillah, Torat Eretz Yisrael, shirat Eretz Yisrael, Israeli movies and discussion and much more. This is an inspirational morning not to be missed. More details will follow.
