Lamdeinu’s New Semester to Begin Jan. 27

(Courtesy of Lamdeinu) Lamdeinu is thrilled to announce an exciting lineup of winter and spring classes, offering enriching learning opportunities for all. Classes this semester will be held on Zoom only. Here’s what’s coming up!

Starting off each week, Dean Rachel Friedman will lead “Parshanut HaMikrah on Sefer Bereishit” on Mondays from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from January through May. Open to women only, this class offers an engaging and insightful exploration of Torah text and commentary while including time for chevruta and shiur learning.

Rabbi Hayyim Angel

Also on Mondays, beginning on March 17, Rabbi Hayyim Angel will present a four-part series from 1-2 p.m. entitled “How to Analyze Torah Narrative: Four New Stories.” Open to all, this series will guide participants through an analytical approach to Torah narratives, focusing on thought-provoking biblical stories.

Rabbi Gedalyah Berger

On Tuesdays, Rabbi Gedalyah Berger will explore “Gemara Kiddushin, Perek 2” from 9:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. from January through May. Open to men and women, this class delves into the complexities of this fascinating masechet.

Rabbi Yitzchak Etshalom

Beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 11, Rabbi Yitzchak Etshalom will introduce his new book in a four-part series titled “Explore the Genius of Prophetic Rhetoric: Studies in the Book of Amos,” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. This series is an opportunity to engage with the author and is open to men and women.

Beginning on Tuesday, March 18, Rabbi Etshalom will analyze “Exciting Topics in Vayikra” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., offering fresh perspectives on this complex book of the Torah.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Lamdeinu will offer a full array of insightful and inspiring classes dedicated to the holidays of Purim and Pesach and to the Israel Memorial Days. These classes are free and open to men and women. Suggested donations and sponsorships are appreciated. On Tuesday, March 11, Rabbi Yitzchak Etshalom will delve into “Taanit Esther” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., helping participants prepare for the fast day and the holiday of Purim that follows. Preceding Pesach, R. Etshalom will offer a unique series on “Midrash Arami Oved Avi” on Tuesdays, April 1 and April 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m..

Rabbi Yitzchak Twersky

Wednesdays from 10:15 -11:30 a.m. will also feature engaging classes related to the Jewish calendar. On February 26 and March 5, Rabbi Yitzchak Twersky will unpack “Characters in Megillat Esther,” and on March 12, Ms. Sarah Gordon will explore “Why Do We Read the Megillah Twice?: The Two Sides of Purim.” Leading up to Pesach, Rabbi Twersky will offer an analytical series on the “Themes of Pesach” on March 19, 26 and April 2. On April 9, Ms. Sarah Gordon will consider the biblical celebration of Pesach in “Finding Pesach in the Tanakh.” Beginning on April 23, Rabbi Twersky will deliver a meaningful four-part series on the “New Memorial Days of the State of Israel,” focusing on Yom HaShoah, Yom HaZikaron, Yom Ha’Atzmaut and Yom Yerushalayim.

Ms. Sarah Gordon

Thursdays at Lamdeinu will feature Rabbi Gedalyah Berger’s erudite and informative class on Hilkhot Tevillah. This course, beginning on January 30, will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and is open to women only.

Rabbi Daniel Fridman

Finally, Lamdeinu’s week concludes with Rabbi Daniel Fridman’s signature Parashah and Haftarah Pointers on Thursdays from 12:30-1:30 p.m.. This class is the perfect preparation for Shabbat and is open to all.
