LeadingAge NJ Honors Jewish Homes’ Charles P. Berkowitz

Charles P. Berkowitz, who recently stepped down as JHF’s president and CEO has received LeadingAge New Jersey’s President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement in the field of Aging. Chuck began his career at the Jewish Home Family (JHF) in 1970 and led the organization since 1982. He remains as a consultant. LeadingAge is the statewide association of not-for-profit senior care organizations.

“Chuck’s leadership enabled the Jewish Home to become a recognized leader in eldercare, locally, statewide, and nationally. He established New Jersey’s first licensed Adult Medical Day Care program through the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, our Kosher Meals-on-Wheels program and affordable senior housing in Jersey City,” as well as the Jewish Home at Rockleigh and Jewish Home Assisted Living, said Angelica Berrie, chairperson, Jewish Home Foundation of North Jersey, when Chuck was honored in October. She added, “Not content to rest on his laurels, Chuck has given the gift of his time and experience to serve on the boards of Jewish Family Services, UJA Association for the Developmentally Disabled and the Adler Aphasia Center,” among others.
