Howdy friends! We hope everyone had as great and meaningful a Pesach as we did. We were sorry to see it go. Now onto the countdown until Shavuot, one day at a time. There is a variety of new music: some a capella, some not.
Let me start by saying that D.J. Al and I watched the Lipa Schmeltzer interview on the Meaningful People Podcast and all we can say is “Wow.’ Adults have what to learn from Lipa’s share, along with his new album of course. We have always been Lipa fans, now even more so.
“Refuah Shelema” by Afiko.man and Thank You Hashem Nation comes with a long overdue message. Eli Schwebel’s “Self Control,” his first in a while, is most definitely something special. “Shivti” by Hershy Weinberger, Naftali Kempeh and Baruch Levine is a great collaboration.
“Tefila La’el Chaiyay” by David Deor, DJ Guy Peled and Ohad Ben-Ami, straight out of Israel, is my fave this month and hauntingly beautiful.
Ari Ben Chanan stopped his concert in order to honor the presence of two Israeli former Gaza hostages in attendance: Sasha and Sapir, a wonderful couple who never gave up hope, and who we had the privilege to meet prior to the concert. That is a video worth watching on repeat.
On the a capella front, Dovid Rotberg put out “Harmony 2,” which includes so many of the greats: Simcha Leiner, Beri Weber, Eitan Katz, Yoni Z, Eli Dachs, Dovid Pearlman, Yaakov Rosenblum, Nissim Black, EKEV, Yosef Gestetner, Yosef Kugler, Rina’s Amcha, Aryeh Barnett, Duvie Shapiro, Moshe Avigdor and Derech Achim. “Ya’atof B’ahava” by Roi Lavi and Yossef Nativ is another, in addition to Mordy Weinstein’s upbeat “Kol Hamesameach.”
We were blessed to be surrounded by music royalty over Pesach, and enjoyed concerts including Moshe Tischler, Benny Friedman and Bentzi Marcus, among others. We even celebrated with an Elvis impersonator. My chaplain’s blessing to all: “May we always be surrounded by music, simcha, connection and clarity, b”H. May our hostages and IDF return safely and may we all live and love fully, in our homes and hearts.” Thank you Hashem!
