Aren’t the best recipes the ones that take minutes to whip up, yet are still fun and have a creative twist? If you’re nodding your head in agreement too, then you’re going to love these three easy summer recipes that all have the same base ingredient: a wrap!

Wraps go beyond the tuna wrap or the base of a pizza crust. Now don’t get me wrong, those meals are great too, but here are three ideas featuring wraps that you most likely never tried before. They’re quick, easy and ultra delicious.

Let’s start off with toaster pastries. A kosher version of Pop Tarts that is so incredibly easy to make and tastes amazing. I included an easy recipe to make your own homemade jam, but if you’d like to use a store bought or different homemade jam, feel free to do so.

These toaster pastries are the perfect breakfast or snack to prepare ahead of time for you and the kids. It’s also a fun recipe to get your kids involved in the kitchen. When getting kids involved in the cooking process, they’re more likely to want to try out the food and eat it. This is especially good for picky eaters who only want dinosaur chicken nuggets.

Homemade Toaster Pastries

Toaster pastries

Ingredients:

  • Wrap/flatbread of choice. Flatbreads will be better to use in this recipe because of the rectangle shape.
  • Egg whites (just enough to brush the corners)
  • Powdered sugar + water for the icing

Homemade Jam Filling:

  • 1 cup fresh raspberries/strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/2 tablespoon chia seeds

Instructions:

For the jam: Bring the heat to a boil, simmer the berries with the maple syrup and chia seeds for 5 minutes and then mash them fully. Let it cool down and you have a delicious jam.

Place one wrap down, spread the jam in the centers (you’ll want to cut the flatbread to 4) and then brush around the edges with egg wash. Place another wrap on top.

Cut into 4 and brush the edges with more egg wash. Press down on the edges with a fork so that the filling doesn’t come out while baking.

Bake at 350 F for around 10 minutes. Make an icing with powdered sugar + water to drizzle over once cooled. Let it cool in the fridge and enjoy!

Beef Roll Ups

Beef roll ups

It’s the best time for daytime lunches! Summer lunches means grills are out, charcoal is smoking and ready for the BBQ. So, let’s make these delicious beef roll ups. They’re made with beef and you guessed it: a wrap! The flavor and texture combination of the beef and wrap is next level.

These roll ups can be customizable. You can use ground beef, ground chicken or ground turkey and use your favorite sauce to level up the flavor. Let the grill do all the work and enjoy those flavorful bites with savory grill marks.

This is such a fun lunch or dinner to make. The best part is they’re on a kebab. Talk about fun eating! They’re good for all ages. Trust me, you’ll be coming back for seconds.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 red onion
  • Parsley
  • ½  cup your favorite sauce
  • Dash of salt
  • 4 tortillas/wraps

Instructions:

Chop the onion and parsley. Mix the ground beef, sauce, onion, parsley and salt.

Lay out a tortilla and scoop out some of the beef mixture on top. Flatten it out until the whole tortilla is covered. Roll up the tortilla tightly with the beef inside and do this 4 times.

Line up the 4 tortilla rolls and stick in skewers about 1.5 inches apart

Cut straight down to make kebabs with the beef roll ups. Place the kebabs on a grill until fully cooked. Optional: dip into a sauce and enjoy!

Easy Mini Apple Pies

Mini apple pies

Up next is a great idea for how to save those browning apples of yours! If you are like me, and sometimes open your fridge to an overflow of apples needing to be eaten ASAP, try these super easy mini apple pies. And you guessed it, they’re made with a wrap. They’re so easy to make and are even more fun to eat. Feel free to add a scoop of ice cream on top to enhance the fun.

Ingredients:

  • Wrap/flatbread—A flatbread will be better to use in this recipe because of the rectangle shape but both will work.
  • 1 red apple
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar/coconut sugar
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

Instructions:

Chop the apple and mix with coconut oil and then mix with the cinnamon and brown sugar.

Slice the wrap/flatbread into 4. Spray a muffin tin and flatten the wrap to form a crust. Place the apple mixture inside.

  1. Bake at 350 F for 10-12 minutes until apples are golden brown. Optional-drizzle some icing (powdered sugar + water)
