My association with Bet El yishuv and yeshiva dates back to many years of connection with Mr. Eugene Gluck, who participated in my weekly Queens shiur for about 30 years. His entire heart and soul was devoted to the development of what exists today and he would encourage me, on my trips to Eretz Yisroel, to deliver a shiur in the yeshiva in Bet El. It was during those times that I was able to get acquainted with the rosh yeshiva, Rabbi Zalman Melamed. I was most impressed with his modesty and unassuming personality. Recently, I was given his book on the collection of droshos which he delivered on Yom Ha’atzmaut over many years. I had the opportunity to read several of the essays and enjoyed them immensely. He explained the religious significance of the establishment of the Medina and I am certain that those who will read the droshos will be convinced of the same.
Personally, we recently had the zechus of having him be the mesader kiddushin at my granddaughter’s wedding, as her husband is a talmid in the Bet El Yeshiva.
