Domestic Violence Article Makes
Irresponsible Proposal I was disturbed by the article written by Ms. Stefani Jeffreys (“How to Help Those Touched by Domestic Violence,” August 25, 2016). In the article she refers to “a new movement of women holding out on their husband to help their friends get a get.
The husbands, dissatisfied, are pressuring the abuser into releasing the get. In the end, everyone but the abuser wins.” Except for the couples who have now abused the sanctity and trust of their holy intimate lives.
This “new movement” has been an urban myth/legend for over 30 years. Was this detail fact checked? Is it appropriate to suggest this action in a newspaper? Did someone speak with an halachic authority before making such a broad suggestion?
A community newspaper has a responsibility to its community and not to suggest wild west justice.

Kudos to the Sponsors of NJ’s New Anti-BDS Law
Recently, Governor Christie signed into law a bipartisan bill that prohibits New Jersey state pension and annuity funds from being invested in companies that participate in the discriminatory Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel and Israeli businesses. Kudos to 18th District Assembly Member Nancy Pinkin for standing up against baseless anti-Israel discrimination, and being a primary sponsor of this bill in the Assembly.
